Deleting objects
To delete an object, open it, then click Delete.
When you delete an object, that object is marked for deletion, but is not immediately removed from the server. FirstClass physically removes deleted objects when it collects the trash. Your administrator schedules trash collection times.
You can delete messages, documents, and calendar events and tasks.
Tip
If you need to delete a message that you sent to several conferences, go to your Mailbox and unsend the message, then delete it. If you do not unsend the message first, you will have to delete it from every location to which you sent it. In addition, you may not have authority to delete it from all conferences.
Opening objects
To open a FirstClass object, click it.
Restoring deleted objects
You can restore one or more deleted objects anytime before the next trash collection occurs. To do this:
1 Make sure deleted items are showing. You can make them visible by clicking Show Deleted Items.
2 Select the checkbox beside one or more deleted items that you would like undeleted.
3 Click Undelete.
Searching for objects
You can search your Mailbox, conferences, folders, calendars, and external folders or drives for messages, documents, calendar events and tasks, or uploaded files that contain specific text. To do this:
1 Open the window you want to search.
2 Click Search to open the search options form.
Note
The search button searches the open window and all its subwindows. For example, when searching a conference, the search button also searches all this conference's subconferences and folders.
3 Type the text you want to search for at "Find".
4 Specify your search options, keeping in mind that the more narrowly you focus the search by selecting these options, the more relevant the search results are likely to be.
5 Click Search.
As items are found, they are listed in the search summary window below the search criteria.
Multifile Operations
This feature allows you to perform a single operation on multiple documents at once.
Note
You must select an object (such as a folder, message, or document) by clicking on its checkbox before using this function.
To use this function:
1 Select all of the objects you wish to manipulate.
2 Click Multifile Operations.
The Multifile Operations window will open and a Selected Items section will display the items you have selected to manipulate.
3 Choose the operation you wish to perform from the drop-down list box.
4 Click OK.
Note
If you chose the "Copy File" or "Move File command", a Destination section will display the location where the items were copied or moved to. If the "Rename" command has been chosen, the "Enter new name" field will be displayed in this section.
