To create your home page, choose File > Open > Home Page. A Home Page icon appears on your Desktop. You can only have one home page. You can rename or delete it, but do not move it off the Desktop. Your home page must stay on your Desktop to work. Documents that are placed in your home page will display properly on a standard web browser. These documents can also include URL links.
You can include HTML documents in your home page. These documents appear as source code when created, but look like normal web pages when opened with a web browser.
Creating documents for your home page
To allow Internet users to access a file, you must place that file in your home page, or in a folder stored in your home page.
You can: - drag and drop folders, documents, messages and URL links into your home page
- create a document containing the contents of a plain text file directly in your home page.
Open your home page, choose Edit > Insert > Insert File, select the file, then click Open. The file you select can contain HTML code. To pass raw HTML code to the web browser unaltered, so that it will render properly on the web, format the code by selecting it, then choosing Edit > Style > Literal HTML. If you view text formatted with this style in FirstClass, it is in the Fixedsys (Windows) or Monaco (Mac OS) font.
An HTML document can include links to other documents in your home page, as well as graphics, as long as those graphics are stored in your home page.
You can create an HTML document to display as the default document for your home page. You must give this document one of the following names: index.htm index.html home.htm home.html default.htm default.html Viewing others' home pages
Anyone with Internet access can use their web browser to view your home page. They just need to know your name and the domain name of your server.
