FirstClass® Client is the graphical front-end DOS software required to connect via network or modem to FirstClass Servers.  It will run on any MS-DOS 3.3 or better machine with at least 640 KB of memory.

Description

FirstClass® Client 3.5 for DOS is the first release of the FirstClass® Client for DOS.

Requirements

The FirstClass Client for DOS program runs on MS-DOS 3.3 or better, on a computer with a 8086 or better processor and with at least 640 KB of RAM.  The FirstClass Client for DOS can run over a modem connection or via IPX on a PC with a network connection.

The FirstClass Client for DOS requires that the FirstClass Server which it is connected to is licensed for the optional Text Services for FirstClass.

Installation

1)  Download the FCDOS350.ZIP archive to a temporary folder on your hard disk.
2)  Extract the contents of the archive using PKUNZIP with the following command line parameters:  PKUNZIP -d FCDOS350.ZIP
3)  The necessary files will then be extracted from the archive into the temporary directory you created in step 1 above.
4)  Follow the instructions in the extracted README.TXT file for additional steps to complete the installation.

Additional Information

-  The FirstClass Client for DOS is run by typing the following at the DOS command line prompt:

FCCLIENT

You will then need to select the settings file to you via the File->Open Settings menu item.

You could also run the FirstClass Client for DOS using a specific settings file document by typing the following at the DOS command line prompt:

FCCLIENT xxx.FC

Where xxx.FC is the name of a settings file document found in the SETTINGS directory of the FCCDOS installation.

-  There are two example settings files for the DOS client in the SETTINGS directory (IPX.FC and MODEM.FC).  These can be edited with the DOS EDIT command.  You will need to enter at least the FirstClass Server name in these files.

-  If you are using the MODEM.FC settings file to connect via modem, you will also need to modify the type of modem you use in the MODEM.FCP file (found in the FCP directory of the FCCDOS installation).  In the MODEM.FCP file, find the line which starts with the keyword SCRIPT, and modify the entry to that of a .MDM file (found in the MODEMS directory of the FCCDOS installation) which matches your modem type.

e.g.

SCRIPT = "HAYES_24.MDM"
